This month, we’re celebrating Janine’s one-year anniversary as a volunteer at CROSS Services! If you’ve ever stopped by our front desk, you’ve likely been greeted by her warm smile and calm, welcoming presence. Janine helps create a positive first impression for families visiting our food shelf, ensuring that every neighbor feels seen and supported.
When asked what inspired her to get involved, Janine shared:
“I retired in March of 2024 and after giving myself the spring and summer to just enjoy retirement, I knew that I needed to find some way to give back to the community and help others. I toured CROSS Services earlier in the summer and started volunteering in October of 2024!”
For Janine, choosing CROSS Services was a natural fit:
“I was aware of CROSS Services through food drives we had done at our church (St. John’s Lutheran – Maple Grove). After touring the facility, I knew CROSS Services was where I wanted to volunteer my time.”
Her favorite part of volunteering? The impact she sees firsthand:
“Working at the front desk has allowed me to see the large numbers of people that are helped by CROSS Services and the appreciation that they have for all the services provided. It’s so rewarding to see the joy that is brought to so many. Also, the full-time staff at CROSS Services are so warm and welcoming and make you feel a part of the team!”
