At CROSS Services, we know that supporting families goes beyond food and housing—it’s about helping people navigate the unexpected challenges that can quickly become financial crises. That’s why partnerships with businesses like Twin Cities Health Insurance Solutions, Inc. are so important. In our latest Chat with Chad conversation, Executive Director Chad Lanners sat down with Jan Mudd and Jenna Mudd, two of the family members part of Twin Cities Health Insurance Solutions, to talk about their mission, their family business, and why they have chosen to invest in CROSS Services’ work.
A Family Business with a Neighbor’s Heart
Jan and Jenna shared that Twin Cities Health Insurance Solutions is a family-run agency based in Maple Grove, Minnesota, offering a range of health insurance services for individuals, families, and small businesses. Jenna introduced their business by sharing how deeply family is at the center of what they do.
“I’m Jenna Mudd and this is my father, Jan Mudd. And we are a family team business. And who you don’t see here is my mother, Jill Mudd, who’s the principal agent who started this business. My sister-in-law, Lacy Mudd, who’s an independent agent, my cousin, Jacob Meeks, and my brother, Jordan Mudd, who helps us with the background stuff. So, we’re a whole family team running this together.”
As independent brokers, their role goes beyond finding policies. They pride themselves on walking with clients through changes that come with different seasons of life.
Meeting Families Where They Are
Insurance decisions often come at stressful points in life—retirement, a job change, or sending a young adult off on their own.
“We want people to have someone they can call when they have questions,” Jan said. “We don’t just disappear after enrollment.”
This kind of steady presence mirrors CROSS Services’ mission. As Chad shared in the interview, Twin Cities Health Insurance Solutions’
“commitment not only from their company, but as well as from their family, has gone above and beyond.”
Insurance as Protection Against the Unexpected
During the conversation, Chad reflected on how financial pressures quickly become overwhelming for families in our community,
“A lot of families feel really uncomfortable with where their savings is at. 20-30% of all Americans don’t have any savings at all.” Chad questions, when you don’t have savings, “What makes health insurance even more important?
That’s where Twin Cities Health Insurance Solutions sees their role. As Jan explained,
“So that if something does happen, that’s catastrophic, you have that protection.”
By helping people prepare for the unexpected, their work directly complements CROSS Services’ mission of providing stability and support when families need it most.
That same dedication to protecting families is also what drew the Mudds into deeper connection with CROSS Services—first as volunteers, and eventually as partners.
From Volunteering to Partnership
For the Mudd family, supporting CROSS Services began years ago. Jan recalled,
“We’ve done some volunteering in the past with CROSS—stocking shelves, working in the food shelf, and helping where we could.”
Over time, that personal involvement grew into a professional partnership. Today, Twin Cities Health Insurance Solutions stands with CROSS Services as an Annual Community Partners.
Why Partnerships Matter
The relationship between Twin Cities Health Insurance Solutions and CROSS Services is a glimpse of what’s possible when local businesses step up for their neighbors. Their time, talent, and resources directly strengthen the safety net so more families can find stability in uncertain times.
Chad said it best in closing,
“I just want to sincerely thank both of you for your partnership and taking the time to visit with me on Chatting with Chad. We couldn’t do this without organizations and families like yours standing with us.”
