For Jeanne, the journey to volunteering began during a moment of reflection. “Sitting at home during COVID, I realized I had moved to Minnesota and wasn’t giving back to my community in any way,” she shared. A retired teacher, Jeanne wanted to use her communication skills to make a positive impact. After attending a CROSS Services event and witnessing the enthusiasm of its volunteers, she was inspired to get involved and signed up online.
Jeanne’s commitment shines through her work at the boutique, where she helps ensure that CROSS clients feel valued and respected as they select clothing, shoes, toys, and housewares for their families. “Seeing happy faces as children pick out toys or clients find clothing and essentials for their homes is so rewarding,” Jeanne said. “Plus, I love dressing mannequins to make the space feel welcoming and stylish!”
What stands out to Jeanne most about CROSS Services is the community support that makes it all possible. “I’m impressed by how many companies and churches in the area support CROSS with fundraising activities and donations,” she said. “The purpose of wanting to make a difference is of the greatest importance to me.”
