“We went through a rough patch and CROSS helped us along the way until I was able to get back on my feet.”
It is estimated one in 10 households in Minnesota are affected by hunger. Each month, hundreds of individuals receive assistance during their time of need at CROSS Services.
On Give to the Max Day Nov. 12, CROSS Services is hoping supporters will share their generosity to help local families.
How Your Support Makes a Difference
One mother shared her story of the impact CROSS had on her and her children after her divorce and move back to Minnesota. Despite having a post-secondary degree, finding a job took longer than she expected.
“It was difficult to provide even just the basics. I remember there were many days I would make the boys dinner and there was only enough for them. I would eat only if they didn’t finish their dinners,” she told CROSS. “One day I had enough. I needed some help, but I was too proud to ask. That is when I found CROSS. We went through a rough patch and CROSS helped us along the way until I was able to get back on my feet.”
With community support and generosity, CROSS was able to provide food during 47,309 individual visits to the food shelf during its last fiscal year, housing assistance to 323 local households, and more.
