Support CROSS Meals on Wheels at the Annual Walk to End Hunger
Seniors are one of the fast growing populations visiting food shelves. In Minnesota, it is estimated more than 260,000 seniors are isolated and living alone – with more than 84,000 threatened by hunger.
To help the increasing number of seniors, CROSS Services Meals on Wheels continues to reach out to more community members.
This Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 26, join in as CROSS Meals on Wheels walks with hundreds of other participants during the annual Walk to End Hunger at the Mall of America in Bloomington.
Supporters are encouraged to visit walktoendhunger.org and click on ‘Meals on Wheels’ to find the CROSS team. Walkers and financial supporters are needed! A gift of $25 can provide a week’s supply of food through CROSS Meals on Wheels program.
For one daughter, the hot meals provided through the CROSS Meals on Wheels program have significantly made a difference in her mother’s life, whose health and spirits had declined after losing a child. “Mom loves her lunches, her memory has improved, and she’s been more socially active,” her daughter told CROSS. “We feel like we have our mom back!”
During the last fiscal year at CROSS, more than 10,000 hot meals were delivered by volunteers in the communities of Maple Grove, Osseo, Rogers, Dayton, and Corcoran. In addition to seniors, the CROSS Meals on Wheels program delivers to disabled and homebound individuals.
CROSS Services is a 501c3 nonprofit organization established in 1977 to provide food and housing services to local families and individuals in need, including programs such as the Meals on Wheels, food shelf, Peace of Mind Housing financial assistance, clothing, and more.
