The Grainger Foundation, an independent, private foundation located in Lake Forest, Illinois, has donated $5,000 to CROSS in support of its commitment to serve families and individuals in times of need. CROSS’ mission is to provide mercy and aid through compassionate and supportive services to those seeking help. The organization is committed to people helping people and people collaborating to strengthen the community.
“This grant will be used toward the purchase of an industrial power stock lifter for the CROSS Food Shelf,” said Stephanie Lehman, CROSS Services Volunteer and Community Outreach Director. “The lift will allow volunteers and staff to move products safely, keep the shopping floor clear of boxes and help CROSS maintain better control of food inventory. We are grateful to The Grainger Foundation for its generosity.”
Each month, more than 70,000 pounds of food product is handled by volunteers and warehouse staff at CROSS. In the last two years, through enhanced outreach and partnerships, CROSS has grown from providing food for 2,000 people each month to providing food to more than 7,000 people monthly.
This donation was recommended by Thor Osteboe, Senior Manager of W.W. Grainger, Inc.’s, Plymouth location. Grainger has been a part of the Plymouth business community for more than 35 years as the leading broad line supplier of maintenance, repair, and operating products. “We are proud to recommend the programs offered by CROSS,” said Osteboe. “We understand the need for this type of compassionate and supportive service for those in our community who are seeking help.”
