Last December, Allstate Agent Greg Sniezek dedicated to give back to his local community by connecting with CROSS.
It all started with jeans.
“Each person in my office donates a dollar in a bucket, every Friday to wear jeans, and then at the end of the year, I match all the donations,” Sniezek said. “We decided to give that to CROSS after looking at the different local nonprofits. When I went in to drop off the check, I was impressed with the facility and the people working there, so decided I wanted to get more involved.”
Sniezek’s ongoing contributions and volunteer efforts were recently recognized when he was named a finalist for the 2014 Ray Lynch Community Service Award, Allstate’s top national honor, recognizing an agency owner or financial specialist for the way he/she gives and makes a difference in the community. His office serves the communities of Rogers, Maple Grove, and Brooklyn Park.
As a finalist, Sniezek receives a $2,000 grant from The Allstate Foundation which he decided to donate to CROSS, a nonprofit organization serving families and individuals living in Rogers, Maple Grove, Osseo, Champlin (West), Corcoran, and Dayton.
“Greg supports his community in every way possible,” Regional Sales Leader for Allstate’s Midwest Region Bill McGrath said. “As a local business owner, Greg believes in going above and beyond the call of duty to do what is best for his customers and the community. He wants to make a positive impact and brings a sincere passion for everything he does.”
The Ray Lynch Award is dedicated to the memory of former Allstate agent Ray Lynch. During his 32 years as an Allstate Agent, Lynch earned many company honors. In 1999, Lynch passed away. Inspired by his leadership, Allstate created the community service award in his honor.
“Being in the northwest suburbs, this is a way to make a direct impact in the community where we live and work,” Sniezek explaining why he would encourage businesses and individuals to connect with CROSS.
Each week throughout the summer and fall, Sniezek volunteers to setup the CROSS booth at the Rogers Farmers Market on Wednesday and the Maple Grove Farmers Market on Thursday along with other volunteers from his office. CROSS attends each farmers market to share information about CROSS and accept donations.
“You also get to meet others that are in the same mind with the goal to help others,” Sniezek said of his volunteerism. “With my offices being involved on a weekly basis, we have been able to work together outside the office – which is a rare thing. It helps build camaraderie being part of something bigger.”
